IBM’s premier Design internship.
Aligned around user outcomes, we spent 10 weeks working on the complexity of designing software at scale. Our projects were part of an internal incubation program in IBM Design to find moonshots for the company. We interfaced with IBM’s current clients to design a more attractive offering.
I learned how important it is to be a collaborator and friend day in and day out. Stretched thin between tight quarters and expansive conversations, staying grounded was huge. It’s hard to share ideas and collaborate on broken relationships. It requires building healthy relationships, and that takes many things never taught in school.
Emotional intelligence was largely influential throughout the program. This came from the director of the internship – former SCAD professor Devin O’Bryan. You can read his blog post about this particularly unique internship cohort here.
